Why Grace Bay feels so easy

Grace Bay curves for about two miles along the north shore of Providenciales, and on a calm winter morning the water is so clear and still it looks like a swimming pool.

The sand is fine and pale, the water stays shallow a long way out, and a barrier reef sits offshore, a short boat ride away. It’s the kind of beach where a morning walk turns into an hour, and where the hardest decision of the day is which end of it to explore.

It’s also wonderfully close to home. Delta flies nonstop from Atlanta in under three hours, the U.S. dollar is the everyday currency, and most resorts are just a few miles from the airport. You can leave Atlanta after breakfast and have your toes in the sand by mid-afternoon.

Beyond the beach

Grace Bay is the reason you come. A few hours away from it are what make the week.

Give one day to the water. A private boat takes you out to the reef for snorkeling, then on to sandbars and quiet cays for a long lunch. For an easy first snorkel, Bight Reef, also called Coral Gardens, sits at the western end of Grace Bay and is the closest reef to the beach.

On the island’s southwest corner, Chalk Sound is a lagoon of milky turquoise water dotted with tiny rocky islands, lovely by kayak or paddleboard. And from about December to mid-April, humpback whales pass through the waters near Salt Cay, one of the smaller, quieter islands to the southeast.

If you’d like a few days of total seclusion, COMO Parrot Cay is a private island about a 35-minute boat ride from Providenciales. Many of our travelers pair a few nights there with a few on Grace Bay.

Shaping the perfect week

The best Turks and Caicos trips are unhurried. Plan one or two outings, then leave plenty of room for doing nothing at all.

Five nights is a lovely long weekend. A full week lets you settle in, and it’s the sweet spot for families. If you’re splitting your stay between two resorts, give each at least three nights so you never feel like you’re packing.

Choose your end of the island with care. Grace Bay puts restaurants and shops within an easy walk, Long Bay is quieter and more spread out, and the north coast is about dramatic views and privacy.

A relaxed seven-night shape

  • Day 1Nonstop from Atlanta, sunset on Grace Bay
  • Days 2 and 3Beach, pool and a long lunch
  • Day 4Private boat day to the reef and cays
  • Day 5Chalk Sound by kayak, dinner by the water
  • Days 6 and 7Spa, snorkeling and one more sunset
  • Day 8A late checkout and an easy flight home

Good to know

The small things that make a Grace Bay week feel effortless.

Bring your passport

Turks and Caicos is a British Overseas Territory, so U.S. travelers need a valid passport.

Book the holidays early

Christmas, New Year’s and spring break fill first. We hold the right room early and fine-tune the details later.

Driving is on the left

If you rent a car, remember to keep left. Many travelers simply use taxis and a private driver for outings.

Reserve dinners ahead

Favorite restaurants fill up in peak season. We book the special tables before you land.

Respect the sun

The breeze keeps you cool, but the sun is strong. Pack reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and a rash guard for snorkeling.

Plan for storm season

Traveling between June and November? We always recommend travel insurance and flexible plans.
